Applied Intelligence at Teknowlogi
Applied intelligence is a term that we use here at Teknowlogi. It refers to the way we present information. We have a lot of experience in the industry. Experts call this type of experience consulting intelligence.
We also use technology to help solve problems. That is what we call business intelligence or artificial intelligence. That makes up some of the tools that we use to solve those problems.
We use machine learning algorithms to help solve problems in the freight space. We then combine those machine learning solutions with business intelligence reports. Then we take the consulting experience and we put those three things together. All this becomes applied intelligence. Applied intelligence is about putting together industry expertise with cutting edge technology. We then use it to present solutions to the business that needs them. That helps bring visibility into areas of the business that you may or may not have been thinking about. Combining those together give you that type of flexibility.
How Teknowlogi Uses Applied Intelligence
Applied intelligence saves money on freight shipping costs by presenting information to you. It could be information that you may not even know that you should be looking for. We can show you information that is different than what you would see using standard reports. Also, we can combine that information in different ways.
Collections is a good example. We go deeper into your collections than you would from a standard collections report. It’s not only about the total dollars that are 90 or 120 days out, or the largest outstanding balance for a customer. We track and analyze trends using machine learning and consulting experience. Our applied intelligence tools can show you which customers are slowing down. It shows changes in both their payment frequency and their shipping frequency.
Payment Frequency Issues
Perhaps a customer is making consistent payments, but they always tend to pay with 45 days to pay. There’s not a lot that’s going to change that. But if that customer changes from 45 days to 90 days, then we have a problem. Those are the types of things that we can bring to the surface using our applied intelligence tools. So the applied intelligence will save you money. As soon as a customer’s payments change, we alert you to it. Then you can go and find out why their payment frequency has changed. This can help you avoid a huge outstanding balance.
That’s one example in which we use applied intelligence throughout the organization. Another is on the ratings side of the LTL process. We’ll show you all the LTL carriers that manage a lane, but we’ll also predict for you. We’ll tell you the carrier that’s best for a customer and your organization. We can then “join” those two together and show them to you in a way that makes the most sense. It will make the most sense for that lane, for that customer, that transit type, and that shipment type.
A lot of the terms that we use in new technology can be terrifying. This is true when we start talking about artificial intelligence and machine learning. But that’s why we have applied intelligence. We’re trying to combine those two things together for you. It is the expertise that you and other people have in the freight industry with machine learning. It’s not about turning it over to the machine. The machine shows visibility in ways that you’re not used to. It’s about providing more visibility into reporting. It’s about providing visibility to other functionality, ideas, and thoughts that you have. This helps bring that information to you in a way that’s consumable, in a way that’s consistent.
This is another explanation of applied intelligence. We like to think about applied intelligence as an employee. But it’s an employee who always brings useful information to you. Here’s an example. Imagine you want to know about how a report gets generated and what to do about the report. That’s where machine learning and artificial intelligence tools can help you. We’ll bring that to you and bring it to you in ways that often take it further than what you’re used to. The nice thing about the machine is that it doesn’t take days off. It doesn’t take holidays, it doesn’t take vacations. Computers always analyze your data. It evaluates it and returns useful information to you. Then you can take action on that information. You can change what’s going on in your organization by seeing this information.
Applied Intelligence Streamlines Employee Performance
It tries to step far beyond the reporting and the automated reports that get sent to your inbox. We try to analyze those reports to give you actionable items that you can execute on. And you can see their effects in a timely fashion. So they come into you as action items, rather than a report that you have to look through. This is especially important for the rest of the employees in the organization. At the executive level or as a business owner, you know the types of things that you should be looking for. You know when you look at a report about your shipment volume or about your customers or about your aging. Do all your employees look at it the same way? That’s where the machine learning tools and the applied intelligence tools step in. Both these combined can bring that together.
We’ll take the message you’re trying to deliver and look at when you’re looking at these reports. Then we try to express that throughout your entire organization in the same way. Take for example a new person on their first day working with you. They will see a report on which there are suggestions on how to handle that information. It will be exactly the same way you want it handled. So before you’ve ever had that conversation with that employee about, “this is how we deal with customers who are over their credit balance.” Or, “this is how we deal with LTL shipments and rating for this customer.” Our applied intelligence tools convey that message to your employee. It will be the same way you want it explained without you needing to have that conversation.
